Registered
Nurse
Raised
in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Christina relocated to
Houston Texas in 1999. Christina is a graduate
of Indiana University with a minor in accounting
and a major in nursing. Christina works as a registered
nurse specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology,
general women’s healthcare, as well as Neonatology
of premature and critically ill infants.
Outside the parameter of bedside nursing, Christina
is also certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
She has set up several pharmaceutical clinical trials
with companies including Pfizer, Merck, Quintiles,
Eli-Lilly and others. Some of these drugs are currently
on the market and available to the public and some
are still in their research phase.
Christina has a passion for the healthcare industry
and believes in promoting education in preventative
care. She has volunteered in several healthcare clinics,
mobile mammograms and other non-for-profit organizations
that serve and educate the community to better enhance
health. She is also involved with the Women’s
Pregnancy Center teaching fetal development, birthing
classes as well as being one of their three ultra-sound
specialists.
Christina is from the Great Lakes State of Michigan
and enjoys the outdoors. She was raised on a farm
in her childhood years giving her a love for animals.
She loves cold weather and snow and politely declines
commenting about the heat since she now resides in
Houston! She loves to snowmobile and toboggan down
very steep and icy hills! She also cross-country
ski, but can you believe has always wimped out of
downhill skiing? This is next on her list of things
to try, however- husband permitting. Christina is
also an avid Wolverines fan- GO BLUE! In college,
Christina was on the IU equestrian team and won her
first blue ribbon in jumping in 1994. On the artistic
side, Christina took 12 years of ballet, which although
not pursued, is still greatly appreciated. She also
loves to draw and paint to relax and swears she will
take this back up as soon as time permits! Weekends
are dedicated to spending time with her husband and
church community.
Currently, Christina is employed as a triage/nurse
educator in Houston, Texas for one of nine physicians
specializing in OB/Gyn. She is also the new Health
and Wellness director for Merlino Fitness and will
be writing articles on general health and wellness
and women's health. Christina can be reached in Houston
at 713.523.2577 or e-mail her at christina@merlinofitness.com.
