Merlino Fitness To Participate In 2002 Winter Olympic Torch Relay

HOUSTON, TX - November 28, 2001 - Certified professional fitness trainer, Michael Merlino, has been chosen to be an Olympic torachbearer for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics Torch Relay. 7,500 torchbearers were chosen out of 210,000 nation-wide nominees with 162 Houston area residents participating. The Olympic Torch Relay originates at the last U.S. Olympic site, Atlanta, on December 4th and winds it's way over 13,500 miles and 46 states. The relay concludes on February 8th at the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. The Olympic Torch Relay will pass through Houston, Texas on Monday, December 10th.

Each Olympic torchbearer travels .2 miles with the Olympic flame as local celebrations take place along the torch's eight week journey. Celebrate "the spirit of American" and "light the fire within" by watching the torch relay as it passes through your town.
