2001 San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon
Merlino Fitness Road Trip #1

SAN DIEGO - Our first runners' road trip was a blast as we descended on the beautiful city of San Diego. This course proved to be challenging with the hilly terrain, but scenic and full of spirit and rock n roll. Michael's finishing time was 3 hours and 30 minutes at an 8:02 pace per mile. Pictured below are two Houstonians that posted great times. The "Mexican Road Runner", Duval Ruiz, ran a 3:15 and placed 298th in the men's division. The "Italian Bullet", Laura Rotatori, ran a 3:28 and placed 109th in the women's division. Laura's 3:28 finish qualified her for the Boston marathon after running her first marathon in San Diego.
