Amy
Carlson, a native of Windom, Minnesota, received her Bachelor of Science
degree from the University of Minnesota. She left the cold to come to
Houston where she did her internship at the VA Hospital and completed
her Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Texas Woman's University.
She has a passion for health and sharing her knowledge with others to
help them meet their goals. She currently sees patients individually or
in a group setting in private practice at her home office or in client's
homes or offices.
Nutrition Philosophy
Amy believes strongly in the power of nutrition in preventing
disease and improving quality of life. No matter what your goals, whether
you have been diagnosed with Diabetes, you have high cholesterol, you
are interested in weight loss or maybe you are an expecting mother and
have questions regarding nutrition. Maybe you have questions regarding
general nutrition or how to eat to improve your performance? Amy provides
customized information to help you achieve your nutrition goals. Amy also
believes strongly that fitness and nutrition go hand-in-hand. Personally,
exercise is a daily part of her life and she continues to encourage it
in the lives of her clients.
Credentials
Amy is a registered and licensed dietitian who received over 900
hours of training in an approved internship. Once completing the internship
she passed the National exam and now receives continuing education yearly
in order to remain registered. She is a member of the American Dietetic
Association, the Texas Dietetic Association as well as the local Houston
Area Dietetic Association.
History & Hobbies
Amy grew up on a farm, the youngest of five children in a small
town in Southwestern Minnesota. She has always enjoyed sports and spent
most of her time competing or training in gymnastics and ballet. She also
loves to travel and back packed Europe with her brother for a summer and
when she returned went to work at a working Dude Ranch in Colorado for
a year where she met her husband. Today she enjoys many sports including
running, weights, roller-blading, volleyball, rock-climbing, and mountain
biking. Last January she entered and finished her first marathon! Her
other passion is family and enjoys spending time with her husband and
both her Minnesota and Houston family!
